Well I have tried to jailbreak my iPhone using this method 5 times now, same result every time. It has Firmware 4.1 (8B117) and baseband 05.14.02. Every time I jailbreak it with RedsnOw linked here, all seems to go well, but it doesn\'t give me the iPad 6.15 option at all, other than that it seems smooth, but when its all done and I click the system info, it\'s still the same firmware and baseband. How do I upgrade firmware to 4.21 and the baseband to 6.15 so that I can unlock it?

BIG WARNING! step2 WILL upgrade your baseband to 5.15! only option for unlock then is that you HAVE TO upgrade to 6.15 baseband. NO GOING BACK. if you are planning to unlock your 3G phone DO NOT use this tutorial UNLESS u are OK with upgrading to the ipad baseband 6.15 (NO GPS!, and CURRENTLY NO GOING BACK. maybe no downgrade in future also) 6.15 is not recommended by many people because of these reasons, so be warned!!

DAMN... I was hoping it will preserve my 05.13.04!!! So that means basically it\'s impossible to unlock an iPhone 3G on 4.2.1 on Windows, unless I go to 06.15.00?????

BIG BANG !!! WARNING !!! Baseband got updated to 05.15.04-5.9_M3S2 afret following this jailbreak walkthrough. That happened with my laptop on WinXP32 not connected to the internet and TinyUmbrella 5.01.00 TSS server running all time in the background. The *.IPSW file named "iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw" is t blame! And with it whoever produced it and claim it to "safe" from baseband preservation prospective. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED !!! I am just glad I followed this process with a factory unlock iPone 3G.

I forgot to mention I followed this process using iTune 10.5 (updated 15.11.2011). Maybe this was the cause of the baseband updete fault mentioned abowe... Well it's just a thought

3G iphone pwnage 4.2.1. custom firmware update via redsn0w with iPad baseband finally working This is for all those who were getting very weak and unusable operator signal strength to no signal at all. It seems the final step for completion of the process was to get Cydia to actually download and install the ultrasn0w 1.2 package from the iphone in order to get the Network carrier signal strength to display correctly and allow for actual use of your chosen mobile carriers mobile voice calling and 3G data services. However with my wireless LAN not seeming to function correctly there was actually no way for me of getting the 3G iphone I was testing to connect to the internet and install the appropriate ultrasn0w 1.2 packages. Despite having tried to connect via wireless LAN many times with no success it suddenly just decided to work on the off chance a day later despite not having made any changes to the settings. To cut a long story short, once you download and install the ultrasn0w 1.2 package the carrier signal readout should now function correctly displaying the appropriately correct calibrated signal strength and mobile operator name. It should also now actually allow you to receive/make mobile calls as well as now allow for use of the 3G data access features provided by your chosen mobile operator via whatever simcard you have installed.

I\'m currently testing the 4.2.1 pwnage firmware myself and there still seem to be alot of risk involved with installing this custom firmware based on all the feedback I\'ve been reading, If you are able to currently do what you need on your iphone then I would not suggest updating to the pwnage 4.2.1. custom firmware just yet. It most likely will not function the way you would like it to purely as a mobile device for making/receiving phone calls on with an mp3 player built into it. Read all the feedback of the other users that have been posting. There are still many issues in relation to how people need it to function. ie. it cuaes their iphones to no longer function how it did before installing the 4.2.1.jailbreak purely as a talky stick that plays music that gives you access to the internet and instant messaging. My experiance is that it caused my 3G iphone to lose regular network calling signal/have no network signal at all for the regular calling and receiving of voice phone calls. It also was no longer able to connect to my Wireless LAN router despite having all the correct setting entered. Its was also the case that it had previously been able to wirelessly connect to my wireless lan router with no issue before I installed the custom firmware upgrade. It now basically functions like an iPOD touch but without wireless LAN capability too. There are a number of steps the guide above fails to mention too. One of them being that you should save your SHSH hashes just in case it doesn\'t work correctly. Saving you SHSH hashes apparently gives you the ability to downgrade again from what I\'ve read post install. Thats assuming that you know what the downgrade process involves. Otherwise as it says above, there is no going baCK. I have no idea what SHSH hashes are, and I\'m sure a lot of other people who have installed this pwnage 4.2.1. firmware update via similar guides don\'t know either. But here is some good advice I read somewhere.... \"if you don\'t know what SHSH hashes/blobs are then don\'t install the firmware\"... at least not until the number of authentic accounts of successful pwnage 4.2.1. updates out number all the requests for help to resolve the lack of network signal/no service or incorrectly functioning wireless LAN. Will there be a weak signal/no service fix? will the Wireless LAN on my 3G iphone running the pwnage 4.2.1. jailbreak firmware ever be fixed? User testing a Jailbroken 3G iphone with the pwnnage 4.2.1. firmware and iPAD baseband installed on it.

Hi all, Just got an iphone 3GS version 3.0 baseband 04.26.08 It has an old not active att sim in it. Should i remove before starting? Do i need a SIM or any connectivity from iPhone to do this (or will USB plug into internet enabled laptop be good enough (for the unlock portion as well?)? I will be DL the files tonight as I am in India and have a slow connection. Am eager to get this unlocked and place my TATA docomo sim inside Just want to take all the precautions so i dont mess up doing it myself. Was going to go to a shop for it but heard the replace the parts. I mean I am a tech saavy guy so it shouldnt be hard to follow the brilliantly wirtten out steps. Just please advise if there is anything further I should consider before beginning. Thanks very Much!!
