you alreafy can downgrade your ipad baseband:
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=22652
then jailbreak it with redsnow:
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=20522
it worked for me, I have an old bootrom 3GS(4th an 5th digits of serial number are below 40(iphone production week))
After Jailbreak just insert the sim card and connect to a wireless network to activate it ;)

Hi Im new here, but a true Do-It-Yourselfer
. I need help pretty please! My phone info/status is as follows:
Network: Not Available
Version: 5.1.1 (9B206)
Carrier: Carrier 12.0
Model: MC555LL
Serial: QR2077QSEXX
Modem Firmware: 05.16.05
Questions/Help Needed:
1. Does my phone even qualify for the jailbreak and unlock? I used redsnow to jailbreak and everything processed with no errors. Cydia was loaded onto my iphone, opens up fine, etc. But I still feel uncertain because when I stick my tmobile sim card into the iphone it continues to say Searching
, yet it lets me know I have a voicemail
now how is that??
2. Do I have to downgrade the BB in order to get things working correctly? I never touched the Baseband, because there was nothing that ever really said Mandatory or Required. :)
Any quick help or guidance would be great! Thank you in advance.

you're baseband is locked...is it a 3GS? becuz by the SNR it has a new bootroom and that means that if you upgrade the BB to Ipad version 06.15.00 you may not be able to downgrade it to unlock using the procedure described here: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=22652 then jailbreak it with redsnow: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=20522

What about firmware 05:16:05 on IOS 5.1.1. Does it qualify for this jail brake tutorial? Also, will it affect my service with my current phone carrier?
Edd - September 22, 2012 at 8:10pm
I also want to know if this process qualifies to the firmware 05.16.05 on IOS 5.1.1

I solved my problem lol, what i did on my Iphone 3GS was upgrade my modem firmware 05.16.05 to 06.15.00 Ipad baseband and then downgrade to 05.13.04 and installed ultrasn0w so i could unlock the Iphone and recognize any SIM inserted but i tested it on 06.15.00 and i was having low signal/no signal so i followed the steps here > http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=22652 but i think at first when upgrading to the Ipad baseband i put a check on the "Install Ipad Baseband" and i did the same process a second time to downgrade to 05.13.04 just that i put a check on "Downgrade from Ipad Baseband" the second time and it worked it showed i was on 05.13.04 so then i uninstalled ultrasn0w and installed it again now i can make calls and send msgs with my Iphone which is like more than the other on (Android).

Hi there: Can you take a look at my comment please? Because your situation is identical to mine. My struggle is knowing if I really need to tamper with the Baseband. Can you give some guidance. I think understand your success, but Im trying to see if the Baseband upgrade/downgrade is causing my epic fail :) Thank you kindly!

What u need to do in order to use any SIM is the process here > http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=22652 , i did it 2 times with the same firmware from here > http://www.iclarified.com/750 using this the first time upgraded my firmware to 06.15.00 and the second time downgraded to 05.13.04 but only cause i selected it in the redsn0w > jailbreak process so when i did it the first time i also installed cydia along with the Ipad baseband 06.15.00 and installed ultrasn0w from cydia (you need to add the source http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com in order to download ultrasn0w) then the second time i did the same but when i went to "Extras" in the redsn0w main menu i selected "Select IPSW" (i also did this the first time) and after that went to Extras again and this time selected "Downgrade from Ipad Baseband" after it did the whole thing i got the 05.13.04 but i uninstalled "ultrasn0w" and installed it again, after that i tested the SIM and it worked though mine is from T-Mobile and where i live it seems i still don't have 3G so it just shows an "E" its slower internet but at least works, btw you can contact me by email > edd9891@gmail.com i'll gladly help you out with any doubts :)
