Apple Restricting Employee Vacations Ahead of Product Launch?

Apple is reportedly restricting retail employee vacations in anticipation of what is likely a major product launch, according to AppleInsider sources.

People familiar with the company's retail plans say Apple has issued a "blackout" period spanning three weeks, during which retail employees without seniority will not be allowed vacation time. That blackout period is said to begin the last week of January and continue into the first half of February.

Apple is also retaining holiday personnel at many of its retail stores. Rumors point to the upcoming release of a CDMA iPhone 4 and perhaps an early release of the iPad 2 with video chat functionality.
