Samsung Admits Galaxy Tab Sales Are 'Quite Small'

Samsung admitted that its Galaxy Tab sales have actually been 'quite small' during its quarterly earnings call, according to the WSJ.

In early December, Samsung announced it had sold one million devices "faster than expected". In January it announced sales of two million. It now appears that these were actually shipments to retailers rather than actual sales to customers.

Samsung executive, Lee Young-hee, had this to say,

"Well, your question was on sell-in and sell-out. As you heard, our sell-in was quite aggressive and this first quarterly result was quite, you know, fourth-quarter unit [figure] was around two million. Then, in terms of sell-out, we also believe it was quite small. We believe, as the introduction of new device, it was required to have consumers invest in the device. So therefore, even though sell-out wasn’t as fast as we expected, we still believe sell-out was quite OK."

Good point, Grad! BTW, I'm not an Apple fanboy, I just do like quality products even though they lack unnecessary features I can easily live without. I don't like Apple made the "real multi-tasking" iOS, now it slows down the whole system when there are apps running in background. The last gen OS was better talking about performance, but iOS has more features. So if they will fix the performance issue like by forcing idle apps that sitting in background longer than certain amount of time to hibernate and dump the memory content used by these apps to the NAND storage it would be really helpful. The main disadvantage of Android is that user can install any app from many repositories and any app may contain trojan or backdoor (either steal your personal data, contact information or open your device for remote access). This is why I do not jail-break my iPhone.
