How to Jailbreak Your Apple TV 2G Using Greenpois0n (Windows)

These are instructions on how to perform an untethered jailbreak on your iOS 4.2.1 Apple TV using Greenpois0n for Windows.

Step One
Open your web browser of choice and navigate to http://www.greenpois0n.com. Click the Windows link at the bottom of the screen.


Step Two
When prompted save the download to your desktop

Step Three
Double click the downloaded gp_win_rc6_final.zip file then drag the greenpois0n.exe file to the desktop. Double greenpois0n.exe from the desktop to launch the application.


When asked if you are jailbreaking the Apple TV click Yes.


Step Four
Disconnect your Apple TV from the power and USB then click the large Prepare to Jailbreak (DFU) button


Step Five
You will now be instructed on how to place your Apple TV into DFU mode.

Connect the USB cable immediately.


After 7 seconds connect the power cable.


Press the Menu and Play/Pause buttons for 7 seconds


Release the buttons.

Step Six
Once your Apple TV is successfully in DFU press the Jailbreak button to begin jailbreaking.




Step Seven
Once the jailbreak is complete you can press the Complete button. Make sure to wait 40 seconds before disconnecting the USB cable so the jailbreak process can finish up on the device.

I may sound stupid but as of 02/18/2011, the official ATV2 firmware is only 4.1.1 How come Greenpois0n is for FW4.2.1?

Never mind .It installed after about more than 50 tries. I\'ll conclude that OFW4.1.1 is JB-able. Cool!
