Apple has updated its list of malware definitions to block the latest variant of Mac Defender that surfaced yesterday, according to Spider-Mac.

A new entry for "OSX.MacDefender.C" has been added to the Xprotect.plist file that contains the signatures for identifying malware.

Starting with Security Update 2011-003 Apple has introduced a daily background process that checks for updates to its definitions.
