Apple Releases iOS 5.0 Beta 2, Enables Wi-Fi Syncing

Posted June 24, 2011 at 6:42pm by iClarified
Apple has released iOS 5.0 beta 2 to developers which brings wireless syncing along with numerous other improvements.

In iOS 5.0 beta 2, wireless syncing is now available for the Mac. It requires iTunes 10.5 beta 2 and OS X 10.6.8 or Lion. You will see an option to enable wireless syncing when you connect your device to iTunes with the USB cable. It is recommended you perform your initial sync with a cable after restoring your device.

Wireless syncing is triggered automatically when the device is connected to power and on the same network as the paired computer. Or, you can manually trigger a sync from iTunes or from Settings -> General -> iTunes Sync (same network as paired computer required). Be sure your device is plugged into a power source when performing Wireless syncs.

Developers can download iOS 5.0 beta 2 from the iOS Developer Center. Also available is an updated version of Xcode 4.2 and iTunes 5.

I don't see the point in wireless syncing if you need to be plugged in with the power chord anyway.

Plugged in as in charging your phone? Do you realize that now from your phone, you can just sync to your computer with the push of a button? No need to sit down next to your computer and bring out the cables

He means he'll add you to his developer account. There may be some people kind enough to do it for free out there.

Jailbreaking does not void your warranty. That question has already been taken to court and it was ruled that it doesn't void warranty. Besides, you can always restore.

@Jacob, JB does void your warranty. What was taken to court is the legality issue. The courts ruled, as they should have, that one has the right to hack their own device.
