A new photo has surfaced online claiming to be the first clear photo of the iPhone 5. The photo was posted on the MacRumors forum by a member who says, "Picture taken yesterday in the office of a French operator."
Last month, a supposed photo of the iPhone 5 being used by an Apple employee on the way home from work surfaced online; however, the device in the photo was difficult to see.
It's quite likely that this image is merely a photoshop hoax; however, let us know what you think of the picture and design in the comments.
Update: Here's another adjusted photo that was posted to account for the mirror effect.

Please don't tell me you guys did not notice... The first picture the icons are on the right side of the screen (according to the status bar on the left side), and when they flipped the picture, the icons was on the left side of the screen. How can the icons switch side on the screen just by simply flipping it?! Anyone who's used an iPhone before will notice that the first picture isn't what an iPhone looks like, the icons are ALWAYS on the left!

I agree with Apple will not realese Iphone 5 cause Apple is waiting for the right time to launch the new generation and to put the latest tech. On it just like it did from 3gs to iphone4. And the rest we see is CHINA copy of the current model but sqezzzzzzed

How can u be so sure about that? Just bcoz the white iphone4 is still out in the market it doesn't mean that apple will not gonna release a new one? Evrythin u here and see are all rumors flying around in the net world.. The best thing u or other people can do is wait.. If u don't wanna wait or see the real thing when it comes out then don't! Come on basically it's just a rumor.. Unless proven 100%

What is going on with the hand below the phone?
It would appear that the fingernail is on the side of the persons finger. That's pretty gross.
But I'm absolutely sure that this is a legitimate photo!

It's pretty easy to spot this as a fake. Here is a list of things you may realize: Q: Why is the background picture blurred but the phone is not? A: Simply because the background picture is an HDRI map in a 3D program (3ds Max, Maya, or any other). What an HDRI map does is imitate the lights in the scene to give a realistic shadow and shade tone on the object; in this case, the iPhone. The phone, on the other hand, is not an image; it's a model by someone who is either bored, an Apple fanboy, or wants five minutes of fame. Q: How can you be so sure? A: Well, look at the phone. You can see it's not physically touching or being grabbed by the hand. It's floating; unless it's a new feature, I doubt Apple created an anti-gravity gizmo. Q: Still think it's real? A: Another thing is it's pure daylight and with the simplest of cameras you can get better image quality. Why is it so crappy here? A) Trick of the trade: add some grain and noise to distract the audience from the quality. Photoshop can do wonders. Cheers to all who think this is real; hope this clarifies. Note: this can be done in video also, so in case he reposts in video.

This could infact be the iPhone 4GS
I thought iPhone 5 has no home button?

Did you think that the iPhone 4S or 5 is not suppose to have any volume buttons along the side. I doubt they would have taken those out. But in the picture clearly there isn't any.

The phone has a damn screen protector on the front of it.. I call shenanigans

The fingers including the white thing in the background is pixelated but not the iPhone. You would expect to see the same distortion on the slanted positioned iPhone

It looks to me like a disguise case as well. The speaker opening and the home button have an extra thickness to them. More evident as it looks like multiple layers on the speaker portion. However, this could be a completely bogus case wrapped around the electronics. After BierGarten-gate maybe Apple is appropriately paranoid about design leakage and using more than a plastic overcoat on pre-release models.

And my cat cut me off. A point in it being fake is the pixelation effect on the background versus the iPhony err iPhone itself.

already disproven by Gizmodo.

people said the same thing last year about the leaked iphone 4 pics... "they're fake" "photoshopped" blah blah
then they found out they were wrong.
i beleive its legit... does not looked photoshopped at all... it matches the "rounded iphone" rumors that are scattered everywhere. Screen is probably 3.7 in ... but only time will tell... ONE MORE MONTH!

Looks like a photoshopped IPhone 4 to look slim

Same issue as one of those iPhone 4 fake photos last year. The perspective lines are all wrong. Seriously, if you're going to take the time to leak a fake photo, can you at least put some effort into it.

I think that is only iPhone 4 wat is photoshopped.

Let's hope it is a fake, otherwise I'm sticking with my iPhone 4! I'm sick of forking out half a grand each time a new iPhone comes out. The next time I do, it needs to be a major re-design and not just smoothed out edges, a couple of mm bigger screen, and a better camera. All these improvements I can live without; my iPhone 4 serves its purpose. There will also be no point in jailbreaking now that Installous won't be upgraded for iOS 5; there's just no point seeing as most tweaks are covered by Apple.

Then thank God i didn't buy the iphone 4 and waited for 5!

Hey Wez, too bad Apple doesn't care whether you stick to the iPhone 4 or upgrade to the 5. They will have no trouble breaking sales records, even if they don't change much.

Nobody noticed that if u hold the device properly, the Settings icons would be on the right side? Normally, they are on the left side. Kinda weird, isn't it? Looks fake to me

In other news... For those running 4.3.3 I just notice that Apple has release the download previously purchased feature on the iTunes and App store apps. This was a feature I loved on the iOS 5 betas.

Me too, i have apps that i purchased back in 2008 on my 1st gen iphone. there is no sign of them in itunes or appstore... well until this new feature turned up, even better i downloaded via icloud (which i thought wasnt available til ios 5). i installed the 1st app that came with my o2 iphone (the o2 festive kit)
