The Siri group is reportedly one of the largest software teams at Apple, according to the WSJ.
The Siri group, one of the largest software teams at Apple, fine-tuned Siri's responses in an attempt to forge an emotional tie with its customers. To that end, Siri regularly uses a customer's nickname in responses, as well as those of other important people and places in his or her life. "We thought of it almost as a person on the phone," this person said.
When integrating Siri into the iPhone, the team reportedly focused on giving it a friendly and humble personality but also giving it an edge, said a person who worked on the project. While working on the assistant, they often thought, "How would we want a person to respond?".
Siri, a voice powered assistant, is one of the most exciting new features of the iPhone 4S. Blogs have already popped up to document Siri's responses to various questions. Many consider this voice powered technology to be the future of mobile devices.
