Apple will reportedly offer three separate tablets in 2012: an iPad 3 HD, an iPad 2S, and a discounted iPad 2, according to analyst Ben A. Reitzes with Barclays Capital.
First, Reitzes believes that Apple will keep current iPad around at a discounted price.
Second, he suggests that Apple will release a faster iPad 2, perhaps dubbed the iPad 2S, that will keep the same resolution but offer a faster processor and Siri. This update would be similar to Apple's update from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S.
Third, Reitzes thinks Apple will launch a fully redesigned iPad 3 in March. This device is said to feature a high resolution Retina Display, Siri integration, and an improved processor.
Recent rumors have Apple working with Sharp to create a modified IGZO display for the iPad 3 that will provide 330 dpi while not using IPS or having a dual-bar backlight.

iClarified should know by now Apple releases 1 product. Every year "multiple iphone this year" or "several iPads". Not happening. There will be 3 though, iPad, iPad2 and iPad3.
And those saying it'll be 2S.... Any product upgrade can be considered an 'S' depending on how you look at it. For some odd reason people add the S if it looks the same and +1 if it looks at all different which is the least important function. The label means nothing.
This will have a better processer, maybe more ram, increased graphics and with such perhaps slightly better cameras. Small chance for small case modification but the apple covers will still need to fit. Software enhancements. Not much else to do really. More storage maybe with a 32, 64 and 128gb maybe but that's a bit more doubtful. They can do that of course.
Graphics will be upgraded too to take advantage of the retina display.
It'll be 1 model and it'll probably be announced in late Feb or early march. My guess based on historical data.

True! Apple only gives you a little bit each release so I doubt there will be an iPad 3. I see only a 2S if that's even what they call it. Why don't they worry about a redesigned iPhone first!

Yes, typical delay in anticipated release will probably result in release of an iPad 2S in March, followed by a release in an iPad 3 in the fall. Time will tell.
