Apple has started production of new thinner 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pro notebooks, reports DigiTimes. The new laptop will reportedly drop the optical drive but have a more powerful processor and more storage than the MacBook Air.
Production for the next-generation MacBook Pro has already begun with shipments to Apple kicking off in March, the sources noted. Monthly shipments will eventually climb to 900,000 units from the 100,000-150,000 units targeted initially, the sources said.
The release may come at the same as PC vendors launch their new Ivy Bridge ultrabooks, which were expected earlier but were postponed due to delays in getting Intel's Ivy Bridge chips.
If the new MBP has a retina density display, I will buy one. If not, there will not be enough things better about it for an advanced PC user to switch IMO.
Justabrake.. When's the last time you inserted a disc cd or DVD into you machine? Not as often as 10 years ago.
What's the rumored release date for the pro/air??
