How to Remove a Windows Boot Camp Partition From Your Mac

These are instructions on how to remove a Windows Boot Camp partition and expand your Mac OS X partition to regain the newly available hard drive space.

Step One
Launch Boot Camp Assistant from the Applications:Utilities folder.


Step Two
Click the Continue button.


Step Three
Check only the Install or remove Windows 7 option and click Continue.


Step Four
Choose Restore disk to a single Mac OS partition and click Continue.


Step Five
Click the Restore button to begin.


Step Six
You will be asked to login with your Administrative username and password. Enter these and click the OK button.


Step Seven
You disk will now be repartitioned to remove the Windows volume.


Step Eight
You will be informed that your disk has been restored as a single volume. Click the Quit button.

My bootcamp crashed while partitioning, how to recover this space?..

Be careful! If you have installed VM Ware or Parallels tools onto your boot camp, be sure to uninstall the tools on windows before removing the partition. I learned the hard way that when you don't you can't get the space back or use it for a boot camp partiton again until you re-format the entire hard drive.

Is there any risk when doing this of deleting things on the mac hardrive. I am completely out of space on my mac platform and want to do this but I'm not very tech savy and want to make sure I don't make a mistake

Aaand, see to it that you have > 10 Gb of space on your hard drive before running this. Otherwise the last part where the disk is to be combined into its full size will fail.
