AnandTech has put Windows 8 on the new Retina Display MacBook Pro and managed to run the OS at a full 2880 x 1800 resolution.

Unfortunately, the GeForce GT 650M doesn't have native driver support in Windows 7 or Windows 8 yet.

Even without a working NVIDIA driver, I was able to get a feel for what a 2880 x 1800 setting would look like on a traditional desktop under Windows 8. If you remember back to our scaling and display analysis articles, Apple doesn't offer a desktop resolution equivalent higher than 1920 x 1200 under OS X. The thinking being that unscaled 2880 x 1800 would just be too small for the desktop, icon text and default UI elements... Text is indeed very small, but I suspect those with very good eyesight could actually be ok with this. I would love to see Apple actually expose a native resolution option under OS X.

Check out some screenshots of the new notebook running Windows 8 in 2880x1800 below...

Windows 8 has been compared to Windows ME...by WINDOWS folks lol. That's right, it's not even worthy of a comparison to Vista. haha... Anywhooo, I *would* like a WSXGA+ (1680x1050) or even WUXGA (1920x1200) pixel-quadroupled for your Retina viewing pleasure @ 3840x2400 to use the latter example. Even on a 15.4". I used to be a Windows man and granted, I'm probably one of a comparatively speaking small number of super geeks and I'm not anti-Windows. You guys are just braindead, though. Your attacks on OSX are baseless and why is it that "PC" manufacturers try so hard to copy Apple (right down to the retail PACKAGING LOL) and then scream foul this loud? You freaks make "real" Windows people look bad. You can't face the fact that Microsoft is basically done. In the longterm I mean. The de-Windows-ization began 2 years ago and is now entering an accelerated phase. You guys are like flies when they know they're going to die and go nuts. That's right, folks. It's dyin' tiiiiiime......woohoo.....

What if I told you...that comments are for uncommon wisdom and insight that supplement the article, not a forum for you to whine incessantly about total bullshit. Nobody cares if you prefer Windows.

There sure is. Because there is no shortage of people in the world who are two stupid and inexperienced to manage their own computing experience and need something like OSX and Apple to Hold their hands.. OSX users a are on the whole not very computer savvy. PC users run the full spectrum. From novice to super geek.

I can't wait for Windows 8!!! That looks great! I was never a fan of Mac OS, to mee it looks like it was created for apes. I do have a Macbook Pro because I like the way it looks but I run Win 7 on it, a much better combination. My question is why does apple release retina display if they don't even use the full resolution it offers?

im with you bro. I had a mac running bootcamp windows 7 for a long time. actually several macs... theres NO difference between macs and PCs. but one thing tho I want you to know... this will blow your mind!!!!. I thought I had the best of both worlds but what I noticed was when I switched back to a PC... (wait for it)... it was so much better! seriously. Window's works on a PC A LOOOOOOOOT better than on a MacBook. you can sense the lag on a MacBook and of course the battery drain. If you switch to a window's dedicated PC with similar specs like i5 2nd gen 4gb ram and even intel HD and you run windows on it... omg the difference is so nice. Mac's lag a little with windows bootcamp

Some one please make viruses out there for macs please so this one and only advantage to macs>pcs would end. oMG. Windows looks way better than Mac. I've had a Mac for 2 years and reverted back to pc. Oyou can't do shit with macs. I still don't know how to trouble shoot that stupid wifi and Ethernet option on a Mac. Im tech savvy too! I have had over 20 smart phones now and I've rooted and rommed androids. And jail broken iPad unlocked iPhones and sold this shit all over Craigslist for profit. I've never paid for my galaxy note. I literally traded it for some retard for an iphone 3GS white unlocked. The dumbass was so happy. Hahahahahaaaha!!! You peiople are the stupidest ppl in the world. I can sell you guys magic beans and you'd still buy it. Anyways I'm done with my rant. I also play online games like wow and hon and lol and occasionally the battlefield... Only problem is... Why does Mac not play it as well as windows???? I searched everywhere. My MacBook pro (got for $450) i7 2011 15inch with the and radeon processor) keeps over heating and the games begin to show what is known as artifacting. It glitches and the fan blows loudly in the back. My only solution was to boot amp it with windows and it runs perfectly for my 5 hour games. No lag. Some fan noise but all games cause this. But not as hot as the lion OS. I have since booted to windows since I work on my computer and occasionally when I get tired. I play a game or two. The only problem is the bootcmamp for windows burns the battery and cuts it in half the time I would get if I was running Mac <--- no stupid apple ppl this is not why macs are better. Try running your Honda civic or corolla on diesel and see what happens. Does that mean civics and corollas are inferior cars? No. Anywyay need help. Yeah I bashed you and now I'm asking for help so stfu. I don't want to hear about it stupid.
