BMW's lead designer says Apple is responsible for making white the most popular car color in America, reports Motoramic.
Silver was the most popular exterior car color in America for nearly a decade. But while it remains beloved by automotive designers for best showing off a car's styling, its unstinting argent reign was finally overthrown this year. By white. According to Sandy McGill, BMW Designworks' lead designer in color, materials, and finish, this is Steve Jobs' doing. "Prior to Apple, white was associated with things like refrigerators or the tiles in your bathroom. Apple made white valuable."
Alexandra 'Sandy' McGill's (from LinkedIn) experience comes from the small demographics of BMW owners.
BMW owners are 42% more likely than the average adult to spend money without thinking'.
They are 35% more likely than the average to find expensive aftershaves/perfumes irresistible.
35% more likely to wear designer clothes.
BMW owners sound like the typical iPhone iPad owner!
One of BMW's employees said it, not BMW. Employees are typically not allowed to make any statements on behalf of their company. It is inaccurate and irresponsible of iClarified to claim BMW said it.
If we were to send an email to BMW corporate, customer.service@bmw.com, and tell them that one of their employees is claiming Apple is responsible for white's popularity, what do you think they would say?
I went with white as it was free LOL.. last 2 cars, as I was cheap to pay $750 for a color upgrade.. simple and no one had to do with it.
I call BS on this.. BMW is trying to ride apple or something.
I do not believe this..l just another free ad for BMW and Apple. Two years ago I asked Lexus dealer why people liked the white Lexus-es so much. He said they always did. Anyway, this claim is clearly marketing bs.
