Apple's next generation iPhone will reportedly support LTE in Europe, Asia, and the U.S.A, according to the WSJ. The phone will likely be revealed at the company's September 12th special event.
Apple Inc.'s next iPhone will work on the fastest wireless networks around the world -- including in the U.S., Europe and Asia -- though it is unlikely to be available on every carrier, people familiar with the matter said.
Notably, there are an estimated 36 LTE bands around the world, compared to 22 bands for 3G. Building a phone that supports multiple bands is possible but difficult.
"It's like patchwork quilt in terms of spectrum," said Bill Davidson, senior vice president of Qualcomm. "It will be impractical to have all of the bands."
They're offering LTE in Europe and Asia, despite the fact there really isn't any LTE structure developed there yet. Apple was sued over claiming 4G support as a selling point in Europe when it wasn't supported.
Your statement is wrong. Asia and Europe had lte before the us. It's just all of the world except us,canada, and china use similar standards. The new iPad used a frequency / band that wasn't supported in the rest of the world.
