And this is one of the many of the exact reasons why I left AT&T . Just get a iPod Touch 5 and get a clear device. Total savings 499.99 and 50 dollars a month for unlimited data and service. And use Skype to call out with a 30 dollars per year Skype number and all your AT&T problems will go away.

Service cancellation timeframe is still 14 days no matter where you buy it.

Just so it's clear, VZW has the same 14 day policy for returns and exchanges... But none of you have mentioned that? Hmm. Regardless, being in the industry for 6 years, I can tell you it's a long time coming! You have no idea how many people try to scam the companies by doing "equipment gaming" and false churn. Regardless of your feelings of any carrier - they are still a business. And a business is in, well, business to make money - not break even or lose money.

This seems reasonable. I repair iPhones for a living and you wouldn't believe the shit people try to pull. Two weeks is a generous amount of time to figure out if it works for you. Whiners!

And the upgrade fee went to $36 recently, but as a 14-yr. veteran, none of that applies to me. They waive it all! I love AT&T!

I think it the high volume of returns; could be the iPhone or it could just be the high return rate. Makes sense but it doesn't apply to me because I got my i5 back in Sept.

Oh dear may be they are getting to many retuned? So cutting down the time you have to take it back or just the time you get to find out if some thing it wrong? That is ok if your a iPhone user but not so good for first time buyers. As they may not notice some things wrong till after that time. Also it's always bad when your rights to retune some thing is cut like this. Are they doing it to all phones or just iphone5 I wounder?
