Samsung Galaxy S 4 Benchmarks at Nearly Twice the Speed of the iPhone 5 [Chart]

Primate Labs has posted benchmarks scores for the new Samsung Galaxy S 4 revealing that the device is nearly twice as fast as the iPhone 5.
I've charted the Geekbench 2 scores for the Samsung Galaxy S4 along with several Android phones, the iPhone 5, and the BlackBerry Z10. If you're not familiar with Geekbench 2, higher scores are better.
The Samsung Galaxy S 4 scored an amazing 3100, exceeding the HTC One at 2687 and nearly doubling the iPhone 5 at 1596. Notably, the new BlackBerry Z10 only scores 1480 and the previous generation Galaxy S 3 scores 1410.
The site notes that it is amazing how quickly smartphone performance has improved. The original iPhone debuted with a Geekbench score of just 130.
CPU and memory benchmarking is a waste of time and typical of tech head thinking with a belief that better hardware = improved experience.
It's really all about the execution of the package as a whole with true performance measurements conducted with real world apps.
That's a usability benchmark, not a cpu capability benchmark.
Exactly that's why in one of my test videos I put the i5 next to SG3 and Note 2, i5 loaded web pages faster, took multiple pictures/video faster and processed them quicker, and also opened apps, and ran graphic intensive games quicker than both devices. But IT HAS A SMALLER BENCHMARK, so I guess you are right.
My iPhone 4S is still good enough for me for a few more months. Are there faster, more powerful, more customizable phones? Absolutely. But for my needs, it's nice and compact, looks great, has awesome camera, beautiful form and fit, quality build, and offers a great selection of useful apps. I don't really play games on it. That's what my iPad is for, or Xbox etc. I don't need my phone to be faster than my desktop. I have no lag on anything I run on my phone. Is it fragile? Yes, but I'm careful, just like carrying your camera, or glasses etc. Customizable? Limited but its not that important to me. Big screen? not compared to others, but its still razor sharp. i dont watch movies on my phone. i have ipad or tv for that. The most important aspect for me is how it interacts with my iPad, my Apple TV, my company issued ip4 my wife's ip5 with no hassles. Sharing music, vids, passbook, photos. Icloud. photo stream. Same cables, chargers, and docks etc. Everyone knows someone with iPod, iPhone, or iPad etc. 75 percent of my texting is via iMessage. It just works hassle free. I just don't get why the big dick contest. I evaluate based on real-life usage for my situation and needs, not some lab test numbers.
True on all that. I would still prefer it to be a little larger. Not all of us have small fingers and some of us like to do all that you do not do. After all, it was the reason smart phones came out. It's easier to carry the phone than an iPad, especially where it isn't safe to carry one around. I agree with all but I would like a larger phone as we all have different needs.
But during a demo the Galaxy S4 seemed choppy and much less fluid than even a 40+ substrate running iOS 6.x i5. Why is this? Such processor power but why the framerate issue or look of choppyness during swipes/navigation?
If you say so. Go buy old nokia phone just receiving call hello, msg etc. Samsung is great, its packed with customizable. Apple phone only you can do is after jailbreak. No jailbreak. You are carry old $30.00 nokia phone. I was also a apple fan & now hate cos no large screen. Apple no innovation anymore. Samsung is. Did I say more. Google more for info.
I'm sorry that your small feminine fingers can't carry a larger phone. I love my iPhone and that's why I need a larger one. So it can accommodate different sizes. After all, I'm sure your shirt size is petite. Mine is extra large.
At this point, internal specs is not the deciding factor anymore for prominent handset use. However, as phones evolve even further, I believe they will eventually become desktop replacements. Much like the way I believe the Motorola Atrix foreshadowed a future like that. Microsoft I bet will eventually release a killer phone that converts easily into a full fledged Windows desktop. Still probably some time down the road though ~ 2-3 years.
My desktop is currently an ATI Crossfire system that i use for sim racing. So you're saying that I will be able to plug in or wirelessly connect all my peripherals such as steering wheel, pedals, 5.1 surround speakers, keyboard, mouse triple Full HD monitors and have it run faster than a desktop Windows PC??? I don't think so sir...
PEBKAC iPhone 5 is out while Samsung still at 4s ? Hahhahaha why would I buy a Samsung laptop when I already have one ? Hahhahaha lmao first they said iPhone was too big now they say is too small lol
Ask yourself a hypothetical question:
If iOS was made an independent OS, available on two handsets the GS4 and the iPhone 5, which handset would you choose?
I'm tied to iOS but I would go with the GS4 in a heartbeat.
When I order a pizza and it delivers straight from the large screen that's when I'll get the GS3....there's no comparisons here, they should wait and compare it to the new iPhone that's coming out
They need 4 cores in S3 to make what iPhone 5 does with 2 with less speed (1.4GHz versus 1.3 GHz).
This makes the iPhone lighter, thinner and smaller than Galaxies!

Samsung can't make phones with minuscule screens so they are *forced* to make phones with bigger (and better than *retina display*) screens to make them performatic(?) as iPhone. Riiiiiight.
You say this despite the overwhelming trend for larger form factors across the board, and one of the biggest gripes voiced by iPhone fans is wanting the choice of something larger than a 4 inch screen.
Seems to me a clear case of denial..
you never heard of the Galaxy mini or one of the other Samsung smaller smart phone collection and beside when I look at the chart there the iPhone is at the bottom of it, it's not only the galaxy s4 that is faster then my iPhone 5, and why should they wait for the iPhone 5S? that will compare with the galaxy s5 the galaxy s3 is faster then the iPhone 5! come on guys all my products are made by Apple but I'm not ashamed to admit that Apple lots it with the feeling of power and pride that instead of inventing, all they did for the last 2 years was taking every body to court. I do believe that Apple did have created a much better phone then the iPhone 5 years ago but they love our money so they sell us small upgrades like 3-3S,4-4S,5 and now 5S so if you want to blame any body blame ourselves for buying their propaganda and we should be happy that Samsung came out with an incredible phone it will force Apple to give us what we pay for!
There is no overwhelming trend towards bigger screens. The iPhone outperforms every single type of phone Samsung has on market. Only if you throw all the androids together they sell more than iOS phones. Large screens are only a fraction of the fraction, and i wouldn't want one...
