The iPhone Backgrounder Utility has been updated to version r277. Backgrounder is a Mobile Substrate-based extension to Apple's SpringBoard application launcher that allows applications to run in the background.
Whats New In r227: - Added badge for SpringBoard icons to indicate running apps - Added optional animations for app restore and switching - Allow normal operation of home double-tap over SpringBoard in simple mode - Allow normal operation of home double-tap while locked - Allow selection of Categories folders in blacklisted prefs
You can download and install backgrounder from the BigBoss repository using Cydia or Icy.

you can update the settings like the old version. just turn of persistence and badge.

I agree that it might be running a llittle slower.. Plus i would love a way to be able to bring up active apps. I know you can now by holding down the home button, but i would like a way to kill the operations running, instead of by tapping on them they open. It seems that sometimes even if i stop an app the badge is still on top of the icon and if i open the backgrounder up the app is still running. Maybe just on memory or something but if i could kill it i would know for sure.

The phone seems to run slower and more unstable after the upgrade. I have had 2 total freezes after updating backgrounder several days ago whereas the phone was runnign rock solid for weeks before. Anyway to get the old version back??

To turn it off, go to cydia and update it to the lastest version.
Then go into backgrounder>general>badge off [its a new setting]

Add me to those who HATE the little running badges. Good idea, but they're ugly and annoying. It would be nice if this were a user configurable option.
The other major change, which lets you switch to a running app instead of just the springboard is kind of nice, though.

You can turn off the badges by going to global and turning it off.

Can you background more than 1 app at a time? The above upgrades state "added badges for backgrounded apps" I understood it that you can only background 1 and if you try to background another one the first 1 is terminated.

I like the progression being made on the app. Very nice update
*But question. Why do you have 1,200 emails? Do you really get that many emails in one day?
