Apple has released iPhone OS 3.0.1 to fix a SMS exploit discovered by security researchers.
Security experts Collin Mulliner and Charlie Miller found a bug which will allow hackers to completely take over your iPhone with a single character SMS. They presented the exploit at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas, explaining that it works by slightly modifying the data sent by the network which is not seen by the user.
This exploit could allow hackers to access all your data as well as take control of your iPhone to infect and attack other devices.
You can download and install the update using iTunes...

Is it even worth updating and having to jailbreak all over again?

I hope Apple didn't dirty us all and sneak in an update to the baseband.

you can jailbreak 3.0.1 I just did and here are the steps.
1) update your iphone to 3.0.1 (I restored as I wanted things to go smooth, I'm sure it'll be fine with UPDATE)
2) after update, jailbreak with redsnow 0.8 and select 3.0 firmware when asked for ipsw
3) enjoy!

I don't think you can do that because you can't use FW3.0 to substitude for FW3.0.1 on step (2). I better wait for more info.

Nice going. I don't understand people who always rushes to update. Is it going to kill you to wait for instructions first? Let it be a lesson to all of you with trigger fingers to hit update.
