1/ i m in similar boat [iP3g. v3.1, bb5.11+, bL05.09]. 2/ my iP3g is Jailbroken but Locked [so now no service (can't recognize non-approved carrier SIM card). 3/ when I go to GENERAL | ABOUT | NETWORK | I see CARRIER 5 (any reason why???? n what carrier 5 means???). 4/ I go to SETTINGS | CARRIER, it doesn't display any. 5/ I tried turbo sim, in SETTINGS | CARRIER, I can see all available network but status is SEARCHING for about 5 mins then status changes to NO SERVICE 6/ BUT.. I briefly ACCIDENTALLY saw my non-approved carrier LOGO this morning for about 30 secs but then it went to NO SERVICE... maybe this provides clue to DEV team

ok heres my problem my iphone 3gs froze one day . couldn't do anything but restore it . i was was jailbroken before i restored. cydia was reporting i had ECID SHSH on file . so i upgraded it to 3.1 which thats where it still is at. what are my options to get my iphon jailbroken again.? am i completely screwed ?

1. just jailbreak it again with redsn0w 0.8. 2. install cydia. 3. add repo.. em sure you know how to add repo... install fuzzyband. 4. if your fuzzyband detects your bootloader 5.08 you're totally lucky... co'z your iphone is ready for ultrasn0w.. just install it. if you bootloader 5.09 or higher... SORRY no help yet available on the net... 6. in case you'were able to unlock it... never do any updates again unless you have read and understand all postings. gud luck

hello... I have iphone 3GS which I upgraded to 3.1 using itunes by mistake, now if i upgrade to 3.1.2, would i be able to unlock it using the new upcoming PwnageTool????

You won't be able to unlock because your baseband was updated on 3.1.

so what's the importance of 3.1.2 again? most of the apps use 3.1 and above so I don't feel like it's a necessity to update unless it's a security issue.

Some bug fixes. Some of them serious issues if they affect you. No word on if it fixes battery life, which 3.1 destroyed for me.

well some people said burn your battery out a couple times and it fixes it. nothing is wrong with mine so far and i burned mine out 2 times just in case.

I'd already done the burn down the battery thing 3 times, no luck. I did update to 3.1.2 and pwned yesterday. As part of that, I noticed a new SBSettings add-in for turning on and off Push email. It seems to default to "off", so I inadvertently cycled my Push settings, and now the battery life seems fantastic (based on one morning's usage compared to the last several weeks). Was it 3.1.2 or the cycling of Push? Not sure, but some podcast I was half-listening to this morning had a comment that 3.1.2 fixed battery life for him...

I just pwned my 3G[s] to 3.1 a week or so ago. Pain in the butt compared to the live jailbreak methods, but better than nothing. (By pain in the butt I mean the time consuming restore of the pwn method.) I'm actually just grateful these guys keep the jailbreaks coming!
