Sony hinted today that it is preparing to challenge the Apple iPad with a tablet of its own.
According to ComputerWorld, Sony CF Nobuyuki Oneda made the following statements at a Tokyo news conference held to announce the company's quarterly financials.
"That is a market we are also very interested in. We are confident we have the skills to create a product," Oneda said.
"Time-wise we are a little behind the iPad but it's a space we would like to be an active player in," said Oneda.
In October, Sony plans to launch a number of new mobile products built around network-based services. These devices will connect into Sony's new Internet store that will offer music, movies, games, and ebooks to many Sony products including TVs, PCs, Media Players, and E-Book Readers.

In order for there to be a market for a "tablet" , Apple has to first MAKE A PROPER tablet! Which means making more of a touch screen MacBook rather than an oversized iPod.

Digihead is right.. Don't be stupid, the only people that want a PSP Phone are people who are still in highschool! Or who are 16 and living with parents. But if you want to keep up the wishful thinking, go hard.
