Instructions on how to perform an untethered jailbreak on your iPod touch using the Spirit Jailbreak and Mac OS X

To follow these instructions you must be using an activated device not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.

Any version of iTunes 9 til 9.1.1 will work.

Step One
Download the Spirit Jailbreak from here and save it to your desktop.

Step Two
Double click the Spirit.app.zip file on your desktop to extract it.

Step Three
Double click the Spirit application to launch it

Step Four
Connect your iPod touch and press the Jailbreak button.

Step Five
The Spirit app will then let you know the jailbreak is complete.

Your iPod touch will reboot and show you progress indicator. Once this finishes your iPod touch will be jailbroken with Cydia installed!

I did the step-by-step process for jail breaking my iPod Touch. But it was stuck on the \"process bar\" screen. So I tried holding the home button and the power button which got it to turn off. But now when I try to turn my iPod Touch back on, it is stuck on the black screen with the gray apple. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Thanks!

Smo, the same happened to me and I did this and finally it worked. When your iPod is on the black screen with the gray apple wait a couple of minutes and then hold the home button and the power button in order to turn it off. Again, try to turn on your iPod and if it doesn\'t works, repeat the process a couple of times. If nothing happens restore the original software of your iPod with the iTunes and try Spirit again. Good luck. I did the step-by-step process for jail breaking my iPod Touch. But it was stuck on the \"process bar\" screen. Does it work for a 3 gen cause i saw where the question was asked but no respond so instead of me paying someone i did it myself. I don\'t want to have wasted my money by trying to jailbreak and it doesn\'t work!
