The iPhone 4 is the phone most likely to break due to accidental damage but least likely to fail in its first year of ownership, according to SquareTrade.

The warranty company has released a study that looked at 50,000 replacements and found that the iPhone 4 had the fewest malfunctions not due to accidental damage while Motorola and HTC Android phones tied for second place.

• 9.4% of iPhone 4s were accidentally damaged in the first year compared to 6.7% for Blackberrys which were accidentally damaged the least.
