Microsoft is stopping the Seinfeld/Gates ads and instead will try to redefine the PC character from Apple's ads, according to a New York Times report.

The company is beginning the next phase of a $300 million campaign intended to improve its tarnished image. Starting Thursday, the campaign themed “Windows. Life without walls,” will move away from the teaser commercials featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld.

New Microsoft commercials will begin with a character who resembles John Hodgman (ie the PC character in the Apple 'Get A Mac' campaign). “Hello, I’m a PC,” the engineer says, echoing Mr. Hodgman’s recurring line, “and I’ve been made into a stereotype.”

According to the New York Times, Mr. Gates will make an appearance in the new ads along with celebrities like the actress Eva Longoria, the author Deepak Chopra and the singer Pharrell Williams. (Seinfeld is gone for the time being)

Also staring are everyday PC users such as: scientists, fashion designers, shark hunters, teachers, and Microsoft employees. All of whom affirm their pride in Microsoft operating systems and software.
