Foxconn and Pegatron have reportedly started production of the next generation iPad with Foxconn getting 85% of Apple's order and Pegatron getting 15%, reports Macotakara.

This first lot production implements LCD's, which are produced by Sharp Electronics Corporation, and aims to be shipped at early March, source told. Because this production line has started, detailed form-factor of next iPad were flowed to accessory makers, then some company confirmed that cases which fits for iPad 2 without gap can't fit for next iPad. Though this source told "front rounding corner will be same with current iPad, then Smart Cover will be good companion with new iPad macotakara", magnets for fixing Smart Cover will be placed on different position.

This report corroborates an earlier one from iLounge who claimed to have gone hands-on with the new iPad. The site noticed minimal exterior differences though it did say the tablet was about 1mm thicker.

Both sites are suggesting that the device could be named the iPad 2S or iPad 2HD since the changes are so minor.
