iOS developer David Smith has charted the adoption rate of iOS 5.1 he's seen thus far. The data is based on the 100k weekly downloads of his Audiobooks application.
Smith notes that 5 days after the release of the new firmware on March 7th, 50% of over-the-air eligible users had updated.
Looking at the data 15 days after release, iOS had the same percentage of users of iOS 5.1 as were on any single version of Android. The most popular Android version is API Level 10 Gingerbread which has 61.5% of users.
Notably, at the 15 day mark, nearly 80% of OTA eligible users were on the latest iOS firmware.
