Apple has released an update to the Java security patch which closed an exploit used to infect a reported 600,000 Macs with the Flashback Trojan.

The Java for OS X 2012-002 software update links to the same support document as the Java for OS X 2012-001 update which reads:

Java for OS X Lion 2012-001 delivers improved reliability, security, and compatibility for Java SE 6. Java for OS X Lion 2012-001 supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X.

Dr. Web recently reported that the first security patch closed an exploit that was used to infect numerous computers with BackDoor.Flashback.39. It appears that Apple may have made improvements to the patch and we would recommend installing it as soon as possible. You can do this by selecting Software Update from the Apple menu at the top left of your screen.
