ITC Judge Rules Apple Didn't Violate Motorola Patent

An ITC judge has ruled that Apple didn't violate a Google/Motorola patent for a sensor that prevents accidental hang-ups, reports Bloomberg. The sensor determines the proximity of a person's head to the phone.

Judge Thomas Pender declared the patent invalid in a notice posted on the agency's docket. Pender was asked to consider a possible violation by the commission after it cleared Apple of other claims relating to 3G technology. His findings are subject to review by the full commission.

“We’re disappointed with this outcome and are evaluating our options,” Jennifer Erickson, a spokeswoman for Motorola Mobility, told Bloomberg in an e-mail.

Apple had no comment.
