Hearst Magazines Are Now Offered On Newsstand Before Anywhere Else

Hearst is now offering its entire catalog of magazines including Car and Driver, Popular Mechanics, Esquire, Seventeen, and more on Newsstand days before any other outlet, including print.

TechCrunch reports that the exclusive arrangement varies by individual publication in terms of how far in advance you’ll be able to get the various Hearst titles compared to in print and from other online storefronts like Amazon’s Kindle marketplace, but each will be available at least a few days in advance, I’m told. Existing subscribers will get early access, as well as those signing up for the first time.

The deal is considered significant for Apple as it provides the company with a competitive advantage over others, such as Amazon, who are also expanding to digital magazine subscriptions.

The terms of the agreement with Hearst are still unknown.
