Speaking with the WSJ, Apple SVP Phil Schiller said that products which run Google's Android operating system are inferior to the iPhone. Schiller's comments come just one day before Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S IV smartphone.

Apple's research shows that four times as many iPhone users switched from Android than to Android during the fourth quarter, according to Schiller. He also said that Android users are often running out of date operating systems and that the fragmentation of Android was "plain and simple"

"Android is often given a free replacement for a feature phone and the experience isn't as good as an iPhone," said Schiller. He feels that Android suffers in part because different elements come from different companies; whereas, Apple is responsible for all its hardware and software.

"When you take an Android device out of the box, you have to sign up to nine accounts with different vendors to get the experience iOS comes with," he said. "They don't work seamlessly together."

The 'iPhone 5S' is predicted for release this summer in order to compete with Samsung's new Galaxy S IV. It's rumored that the device has already entered production.
