Foxconn to Shift iPhone Orders to FIH Subsidiary?

Foxconn is reportedly planning to shift Apple's iPhone orders to its handset subsidiary Foxconn International Holdings (FIH), according to DigiTimes. The switch, pending approval from Apple, would help improve FIH operations which was been losing money in recent years due to shrinking orders from other Nokia and Motorola.

Although FIH has managed to win orders from China-based smartphone vendors, including Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo and Xiaomi Technology, the losses it incurred in the second half of 2012 were the largest as compared to comparable figures of the previous seven years, the sources noted. Additionally, the switch in orders will allow Foxconn to streamline as well as optimize its operations within the group, the sources added.
