Apple MacBook Orders to Increase 20% in Q2 Ahead of WWDC Updates

Apple MacBook orders from suppliers are expected to increase 20% sequentially in the second quarter, reports DigiTimes.

The new MacBooks are only expected to receive specification upgrades to Intel's latest Haswell platform and are estimated to be unveiled at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, the sources said. Since there are no major upgrades, the sources believe their shipments for MacBooks for 2013 are unlikely to surge and may only grow by a single-digit or even stay flat on year.

MacBook Air supplies have begun dwindling at major authorized resellers suggesting that a refresh of the notebook could come as soon as WWDC. While many are hoping for a Retina Display MacBook Air, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple won't be updating the notebook with a Retina Display due to cost, thickness, and production concerns.
