Apple has launched a new Black & Silver 16GB iPod touch with no rear camera for $229.
The new iPod features an ultraslim design, 4-inch Retina display, dual-core A5 chip, and Apple EarPods. It replaces the fourth generation iPod touch that Apple was selling for $199 (16 GB) and $249 (32 GB).
Notably, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple would drop the fourth generation in favor of a new scaled-back fifth generation iPod touch in January. Kuo had predicted an 8GB model for $199 but Apple chose to go with a 16GB model for $229.
