Apple posted a job listing on their website today looking for an iCloud software engineer that can help implement a new mail anti-abuse infrastructure. The employee would work on the iCloud team and must have experience with mail and spam systems, so it looks like Apple is looking to improve iCloud's own filtering system.

An exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to join iCloud’s Mail Infrastructure team. We build the servers that support mail services for our iCloud customers. You'll have the opportunity to further develop the existing systems while building new mail anti-abuse infrastructure.

Consider joining a small team writing the software which provides mail services to iCloud customers. We are looking for an extremely capable engineer who has a strong background in building high-performance, scalable and extensible systems. In this highly visible position, the successful candidate will both further develop existing mail systems while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to define and implement new mail anti-abuse systems.

Apple currently has a dedicated iCloud spam reporting service where any messages that are reported as Junk in iCloud are routed to spam@icloud.com. However, many users around the web still have problems with iCloud marking incoming and outgoing emails as spam.
