T-Mobile Will Stop Carrying BlackBerry Smartphones In-Store

T-Mobile U.S. plans to stop carrying BlackBerry smartphones in its stores and will instead ship the devices directly to customers who order them, reports Reuters.

David Carey, executive vice president for corporate services told Reuters about the plan on Wednesday, a few days after BlackBerry said it would no longer market to consumers because of drastically weakening smartphone sales.

According to Carey, "keeping stock in the retail distribution system was inefficient" since they have not been in high demand and most BlackBerry devices are purchased by businesses and not in-store customers.

"Therefore we will display and sell it in the store for those consumers who would like to see one," he added.

BlackBerry announced a devastating loss of nearly $1 billion last quarter and just signed a letter of intent to be acquired by Fairfax for $4.7 billion.
