Carl Icahn, a high profile investor who recently purchased $1-2 billion in Apple stock already announced that he was planning a dinner with Apple CEO Tim Cook to discuss the company's stock buyback. Now, according to CNBC, the two will meet in New York City on Monday, September 30.

Activist investor Carl Icahn will meet with Apple CEO Tim Cook in New York City next week, where the billionaire may discuss the company's prospects, and the possibility of adding to his sizable stake in the technology giant.

The planned meeting is an outgrowth of a Tweet Icahn made in August that flagged his interest in Apple's massive share buyback. Earlier this month, Icahn said he had purchased "quite a bit" of Apple stock, and said adding to his position was "a no-brainer."

Icahn's stake in the company is believed to be worth at least $2 billion--which would make him a large individual shareholder, yet not one of Apple's top ten.

Icahn advised Apple earlier this year they should accelerate its stock buyback program and it is likely that this meeting will involve just that.
