The upcoming LG G3 will be the first smartphone to feature a laser autofocus for its camera, reports The Verge.

Its camera will feature a laser autofocus system. Like HTC's second camera sensor on the One, this laser will detect the depth of the subject you want to photograph and help minimize the time it takes to go from tapping the digital shutter to capturing the photo. Its advantage over optical systems is greater precision and speed, the same reasons why it's used in desktop mice.

The new laser system should greatly improve autofocus speed and reliability. The camera is also said to offer optical image stabilization and a 13MP sensor. The front facing camera takes 2.1MP images and will automatically snap a selfie when you clench you fist in front of it.

The G3 is also said to feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD 1440x2560 display, the latest Snapdragon 805 chipset, and 3GB of RAM.

LG is expected to announce the device in London on Tuesday.
