Apple to Release Three Versions of the iWatch?

Apple will reportedly release the iWatch in three versions, one with a 1.6-inch display and two with 1.8-inch displays, reports Taiwan’s Economic Daily via GforGames. One of the 1.8-inch models is said to offer a sapphire glass display.

All three iWatches will reportedly be released in the third quarter of this year, contradicting a recent report from KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo who said the iWatch won't enter production until late November.

The Economic Daily says that the 1.8-inch iWatch with sapphire glass will pave the way for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 model; although recent reports also have that model delayed until possibly 2015. Also, the rumored 12.9-inch iPad is apparently still under development and will allegedly be released by the end of the year.

Last but definitely not least, these latest rumors also suggest that all three iWatches as well as the iPad Pro will make use of next-gen touch sensors supplied by none other than TPK. The new technology replaces indium tin oxide with silver nanowire ink, as the material in question much better conductive properties than its alternative. As such, by using silver nanowire-based touch films Apple will be able to fit its products with sapphire glass, without having to add extra sensors for accurately determining touch location.

The silver nanowire films are flexible which would allow Apple to use a flexible OLED display. In April it was reported that Apple had struck a deal with LG to be the sole supplier of flexible displays for the iWatch.
