AT&T has promoted Glenn Lurie to CEO and President of AT&T Mobility, the division of the company responsible for wireless. Lurie was previously the president of AT&T's Mobility's Emerging Enterprises and Partnerships business.

AT&T is also merging its Mobility and Business solutions divisions, for a tighter integration between the two. Ralph de la Vega, who was previously CEO and President of AT&T Mobility has been promoted to CEO of AT&T's Mobile & Business Solutions Group.

According to AT&T, the company has been working on integrating its wireless and wireline operations together for some time. It will now focus on merging its marketing and distributions divisions for businesses with its Mobility division. Business-related customers reportedly generate 50% of AT&T's mobile revenues, which topped $17.9 billion last quarter.

De la Vega lead AT&T mobility through its transition from unlimited data plans to a tiered data system, which led most of the industry to follow suit. Lurie is also a long time AT&T veteran, and best known for his negotiations with Apple to bring the iPhone to AT&T back in 2007.

Sprint also named Marcelo Claure as the new President and CEO just a few weeks ago.
