AT&T has revealed that it plans on launching support for Wi-Fi calling in 2015, reports LightReading. However, the company doesn't appear to be as focused on the feature as it its competitors.

Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO of AT&T's new Mobile and Business Solutions group, doesn't see an urgent need to offer WiFi calling capabilities. Speaking Friday at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference, he said the carrier would use WiFi calling in 2015, but only as a complement to voice-over-LTE and 3G voice.

"We're very focused on making sure it's a great experience for customers, but we see it as a complement, not a replacement," he said. "We feel good about a great nationwide network with unlimited talk and text."

While T-Mobile is hyping up its voice-over-WiFi calling capabilities for improved coverage, AT&T says it doesn't need to do that because doesn't have the share coverage issues. De la Vega also said AT&T offers unlimited talk and text on its Mobile Share plans, so its customers aren't seeking other networks. He also said that as with VoLTE, AT&T won't launch VoWiFi before it can ensure a good customer experience with no dropped calls.

At the same conference earlier today, AT&T said it had already received 'hundreds of thousands' of iPhone 6 pre-orders.
