Liquipel has revealed that it will offer its Watersafe nano-coating to customers who want a waterproof Apple Watch.

Danny McPhail, the co-founder of Liquipel and chief of product development, emailed TUAW with the news.

McPhail said:

"With the emergence of wearable tech like the Apple Watch, the need for a water repellent coating is greater than ever as these devices will be in constant danger of coming in contact with liquids and humidity. Liquipel is excited to offer our Watersafe nano-coating to customers who are seeking that extra level of protection to help save their wearable tech from unexpected encounters with liquids. Be on the lookout for our wearable technology treatment option on our site in the coming months so you can protect your new Apple Watch!"

Liquipel is a specialized process that applies a liquid repellent substance to electronic devices. They place the device into our proprietary machine which pumps down to create a vacuum. Once the vacuum process is complete, the Liquipel formulation is injected which turns from a liquid to a gas as it enters the chamber. In the final step, they introduce plasma which decomposes the liquid repellent molecules polymerizing them to themselves. Once the chamber comes back to atmospheric pressure your device is removed with no cure time and the process is complete.
