Chase is debuting its first ad promoting Apple Pay today. The ad, created by Saatchi & Saatchi, follows members of the indie pop band Bleachers as they make purchases with their Chase Freedom credits and Apple Pay, ahead of a performance in Los Angeles.

"We've been working with Apple for a long time -- over a year -- on this partnership," said Chase Chief Brand Officer Susan Canavari told AdAge. "We thought about their values as well as ours, and we both focus on our customers."

Apple's Phil Schiller had the final say on Chase's ad; however, Canavari said the company was easy to work with. "We spent half day with them in Cupertino and they're storytellers," she said. "So are we."

Apple wanted Chase to show Apple Pay being used in realistic situations. So, in order to differentiate its self from other collaborators, Chase focused on small businesses such as a barber shop, taco shop, and guitar shop.

"Our concepts went to Phil, our storyboards went to Phil and someone from the brand team was on the shoot, so they were involved there too," said Ms. Canavari.

A 90 second version of the ad will arrive on YouTube today and a 30-second spot will air on various networks throughout the holiday season.
