Microsoft has acquired the Sunrise Calendar app for over $100 million, report TechCrunch.

Software giant Microsoft is in the process of trying to reinvent itself, and part of that reinvention evidently involves acquiring startups that have created products that compete with its own. The latest acquisition is calendar app maker Sunrise, which Microsoft shelled out at least $100 million for according to our sources.

Sunrise's calendar products are available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch; as well as, Android, Mac, and the Web.

Microsoft refused to comment on reports of the acquisition but we'll let you know if any more information is disclosed. Apparently, the company will keep Sunrise apps alive as standalone products and use some of its technology for its own future products.

You can download Sunrise Calendar from the App Store for free.
