Apple to Start Accepting Android Trade-Ins for iPhones?

Apple is preparing to update its Reuse and Recycling Program to accept non-Apple smartphones, including Android devices, in exchange for gift cards to be used to purchase iPhones, reports 9to5Mac. Similar to how the program currently works, Apple Retail Store employees will assess the device's trade-in value by evaluating its cosmetic and functional condition.

The new program will begin in the coming weeks, following extensive training programs for retail store employees that will begin later this week. Apple employees will be able to transfer address book contacts from the rival smartphones to the iPhones, but other data will have to be moved by customers…

While Apple's trade-in program is convenient for customers, it typically doesn't offer the highest amount for devices it takes in. Back in August, before the release of the iPhone 6, Amazon was found to offer the highest price for your used iPhone. If Apple does launch a trade-in program for Android devices, those users may want to shop their device around before trading in at Apple.
