Sennheiser has announced the PXC 310 and PXC 310 BT travel headphones which feature NoiseGard 2.0 to reduce the background noise of trains or planes by up to 90 percent. For wireless listening the PXC 310 BT utilizes the new apt-X Bluetooth codec...

Excellent sound wherever you are – and no cables attached
Just lean back and enjoy music or a film in peace during your journey. The new PXC 310 and PXC 310 BT travel headphones are optimally designed for use with portable video and audio players and are also ideally suited for connection to in-flight entertainment systems. Powerful neodymium magnets and Sennheiser's patented Duofol diaphragms ensure a clear, lifelike sound image with a frequency response of 15 to 22,000 Hertz.

That also applies, of course, to the wireless PXC 310 BT: “The new apt-X codec provides Bluetooth transmission with minimum delay and excellent audio quality,” explained Maurice Quarré, Head of Product Management Consumer Electronics at Sennheiser. “Music and speech are reproduced in outstanding quality, while still allowing you complete freedom of movement.” The new technology for compressing audio data was originally developed for use in the Professional Audio and Broadcasting sectors. Sennheiser is one of the first manufacturers to utilise this format in headphones.

“Sennheiser makes no compromises when it comes to the sound quality of its wireless headphones,” said Stephen Wray, Vice-President Licensing at APTX. “The use of apt-X means that Sennheiser customers can now enjoy what we call audiophile Bluetooth stereo.” The PXC 310 BT can be connected to all Bluetooth-compatible audio sources or with a separately available adapter. If the use of Bluetooth devices is not permitted during a flight, a separate cable is included for the PXC 310 BT – of course with an adapter for connection to in-flight entertainment systems.

For perfect relaxation: Sennheiser's NoiseGard technology
Sennheiser's NoiseGard™ 2.0 technology guarantees undisturbed listening enjoyment and relaxed travelling. By generating anti-noise, the system reduces background noise by up to 90 percent. This technology was originally developed for pilots and has been successfully used in the cockpits of major airlines for several decades. And chatting to your neighbour during the train journey or flight is no problem either: the convenient TalkThrough™ function makes it possible to hold a conversation without removing the headphones. At the push of a button, miniature microphones on the headphones pick up the surrounding noise while an electronic circuit filters out the sounds of voices, allowing you to hear them.

Perfect travelling companion
Both models are controlled directly at the earpieces. The controls allow you to conveniently activate and deactivate the NoiseGard and TalkThrough functions and to regulate the volume. On the PXC 310 BT model, the control unit integrated into the earpiece can also be used to activate Bluetooth transmission and to select individual songs. Soft padding on the ear cups and headband guarantee a comfortable fit, ensuring that the headphones remain comfortable even during long journeys.

After use, the headphones can simply be folded together and stored in the carrying case included. And the headphones also come with other special features to guarantee relaxed travelling, such as a battery charger with adapters for a wide range of countries to ensure that you can recharge the lithium polymer batteries for wireless listening no matter where you are.

The PXC 310 and PXC 310 BT will be available from August. Pricing has yet to be announced.
