Apple has removed the first generation iPad mini from its website and online store. The smaller 7.9-inch tablet was first introduced in October 2012 and released in November. It featured similar specifications to the iPad 2 including an Apple A5 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM.

Notably, the iPad mini was the last non-Retina iOS device available through the online Apple Store. With a price of $249 it wasn't a great buy considering the iPad mini 2 cost just $50 more and features a Retina display, A7 1.3GHz processor, quad-core graphics and double the RAM.

The iPad mini can still be found in Apple's Refurbished Store for $209; however, you'd still be better off purchasing a refurbished iPad mini 2 for $249.
