Google has reached an agreement to stream CBS on its upcoming web TV service, reports the WSJ.

The deal made CBS the first major TV network to sign on to the new TV service, which will be housed on Google’s YouTube platform and is likely to premiere in early 2017.

Google is also said to be near reaching an agreement to distribute channels owned by Fox and is in advanced talks with NBCUniversal and Walt Disney.

The new web TV service is reportedly dubbed 'Unplugged' and will offer a low cost 'skinny' bundle of live TV channels with a monthly price of around $25-40.

This is the same type of service that Apple has been trying to launch on the Apple TV; however, recent reports have suggested that the company's aggressive negotiations with cable providers and networks for a TV streaming service may have 'backfired'.
