Apple Considers Dropping Price of Apple Music to $7.99/Month

Apple is considering a price drop for Apple Music that could take effect before the holiday season, according to Digital Music News sources.

They also emphasized that the changes are still under discussion, albeit ‘under serious discussion’. Still, there are valuation debates underway, and the price chop may not be implemented.

Currently, Apple Music costs $9.99/month with a $14.99/month family rate and a $4.99/month student rate.

Apple is said to be slashing $2/month off both the regular and family plans bringing them to $7.99/month and $12.99/month respectively. The student rate would stay at $4.99/month.

The move could come as a holiday promotional discount and is seen as a way for Apple to compete with Amazon Music Unlimited and Spotify. Amazon Music Unlimited is $7.99 for Prime subscribers and Spotify offers numerous discounts through carriers and others that brings down its monthly cost from $9.99.
