Nest has announced a new version of the Nest app that brings better Nest Cam notifications and has introduced door detection for Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor as part of Nest Aware.
Nest Aware will now recognize the doors in your home and automatically create Activity Zones around them, sending you a notification when there is motion there.
Nest Aware subscribers have always been able to manually draw Activity Zones around areas they want to keep an eye on. By recognizing patterns over time, our sensors and deep learning algorithms let us make door detection an automated feature.
Alerts from Nest Cam will include a thumbnail image to let you see what's going on at a glance. Subscribers using Android 7 or iOS 10 can see an animated preview of the Nest Cam video clip – without having to open the app.
If you have a Nest Protect you'll now get live video from your Nest Cams when alerted to a problem. For example, if Nest Protect alerts you to smoke, you'll automatically be shown live video from your cameras.
Finally, it also easier to search your Nest Aware video history. You can now jump right into a day by tapping the date in Sightline.
