Marriott International has revealed that it is testing Siri and Alexa against each other to determine which will be used to control its hotel rooms, reports Bloomberg.

Marriott International Inc., the world’s biggest lodging company, is testing devices from the two tech giants at its Aloft hotel in Boston’s Seaport district to determine which is best to let guests turn on lights, close drapes, control room temperature and change television channels via voice command.

In December, the Wynn Las Vegas announced it was equipping all 4,748 rooms at its hotel with Echo, Amazon's hands-free voice-controlled speaker.

"In partnership with Amazon, becoming the first resort in the world in which guests can verbally control every aspect of lighting, temperature and the audio-visual components of a hotel room is yet another example of our leadership in the world of technology for the benefit of all of our guests," said Steve Wynn, Chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts.

Marriott is planning to adopt the technology for one or more chains by as early as mid-2017.

“Those two players are in the game right now,” said Toni Stoeckl, who oversees the Aloft, Element, AC and Moxy chains at Marriott.
